Final Assignment In-progress pics

So my idea behind this was to capture modern everyday scenes and make them appear old.  I wanted to focus on urban environments, so I am going to continue trying to find areas like this that are suitable for the photographs I am looking for, with old-looking text or structure.

  1. I think you were very successful in creating the aged look in your pictures. Your first and second pictures seem a little dark though.

  2. Great concept, are you wanting the photos to literally appear like they were taken back in time, or just have the texture and color make a modern scene have the same authenticity? The buildings you are choosing are successful. I like the different angle of the second to last one. Keep doing different angles and zoom in on some to keep them unique.

  3. I really like this idea. I know this comment may not be of any help because I myself am having a really tough time finding new layers to my subjects but what about adding another layer of depth to the picture or project. I wish I could help you out more and give you some ideas...but I think a new layer or some new found depth will really make this project POP :)

  4. I like your concept, it's easy to understand and interesting.
Also I like the way how you turn those architectures into a vintage look using photoshop. But I think you could try different ways to do that, such as adding a tan color tone to the whole picture just as the old photos we always see.

  5. I like this idea. I really like image 4 and 5. I think the leading lines are great. I really like the editing you have done to the pictures to make them seem old. I would agree that the first two are a bit too dark or the blacks are too intense. But i love the idea. I like the ones with interesting compositions and leading lines and the one with the people in it.

  6. It's a good idea. You should think of a unique way of executing these photos so they don't come off as stock/calender photos. Think of unique perspectives, or having someone dressed up in garb contemporary to that buildings erection date. Think of maybe doing two layers in photoshop where the top layer has a blur and also has lower opacity

  7. Very interesting idea, I love that you are making the new old, very contrary to what most people desire. Usually you read of restoration, and bringing old photographs back to life. I love that this is just the total opposite. I think that possibly including modern art instillations would be interesting as well.
